Marshall Scholarship

Details

The Marshall Scholarship funds young Americans to study for (a) Master's degree(s) in any field at any university in the United Kingdom. The scholarship allows scholars to gain an understanding and appreciation of British values and ways of life, while establishing a long-lasting tie between people of Britain and the U.S. The Marshall Scholarship is either 1 or 2 years and covers tuition fees, books, a thesis grant, research, daily travel, and fares to and from the U.S.

 

Note: You can apply for the following programs:

  • One 1-year Master's degree program
  • Two 1-year Master's degree programs*
  • One 2 year Master's degree program*

Scholarship Amount

Tuition fees, a living stipend, and a travel stipend


Annual Number of Scholarships Awarded

  • ~50 per year



Eligibility

  • Be a U.S. citizen by the time of application
  • Hold a bachelor’s degree by start of the award
  • Have a GPA of 3.7 or higher at the time of application
  • Graduated from first undergraduate degree after April 2018
  • Not studied for, or hold a degree or degree-equivalent qualification from a British University or GCSE or A Levels taken at school in the UK

University Endorsement Process

University endorsement is a competitive process and not guaranteed. Students seeking University of Utah endorsement must submit certain application components by the University’s deadline.

June: Marshall Application Opens

August 25, 2021: University Deadline

Early September: University endorsement interviews for potential applicants

September 27, 2021 by 5 pm MST: National Deadline

Late October/Early November: Notification of finalists

Mid-November: Finalist interviews

Mid-November: Notification of selection
